Mastin Matters love Mastins and we think you will too once you come to know them. These are loyal working dogs, used in rural Spain as guardians of livestock. They have a natural instinct to protect. But there are thousands of these dogs discarded, chained up, abandoned in a perrera and left to die through no fault of their own.

Their aim is to rescue and home as many Mastins as they can, to provide them with happy futures and give the British public a chance to appreciate and welcome these lovely dogs into their lives. They also aim to influence legislation in Spain which reduces the level of cruelty to animals that is common place when you look beyond the holiday resorts and into the reality that is the culture of Spain. Puppies being stoned by children in the streets as sport! Limbs, ears, tails being hacked off for no reason. This must and will change. We will do our part and support the many wonderful people committed to the same change as we are.

ARCHIE

Archie is a very large mastin pup DOB: 26.10.23 and about 78cm tall to shoulder.
This red brindle boy is looking for a home with a big female dog. He has not been kind with another male and is constantly trying to be top dog even when the other male is submissive.
He’s super impressive, and classic mastin so needs a rural or semi rural home please. For the right people this will be an exceptional dog.
Can be seen in West Sussex.

PHOEBE

Already in UK (West Sussex)
This is a true Mastina, 6 months old and incredibly beautiful. She will end up being about 75cm floor to shoulder. 50 kilos when full grown (at 2 yrs old. )
Phoebe loves people, has no hesitation in going up to strangers and is proud to introduce herself. She gets on well with other dogs out and about, but would prefer to be an only dog we think. (A big placid Male could work well). She grew up alone in a perrera until we rescued her at 12 weeks. So no instruction from her mum and no siblings to share with until she went to foster with the lovely Sigrid Dixon.
(Experienced owners would turn this around i’m sure, but I know how little patience most people have today.)
She is fully vaccinated with chip and passport. Now is the perfect time for her to learn and become the fabulous dog she will be in the right hands. She’s agile, playful, loving and beautiful. Looking for a rural or semi rural home please.
Not cat tested, but can be done.
Would be sweet with children over 5. Might be a bit boisterous at times with toddlers and inadvertently knock them over.

TINKERBELL

This mini Mastina is the most loving even devoted thing you’ll ever meet.
She used to be terrified of her own shadow, now loves meeting new women but is selective around men.
DOB 20/12/22. So almost 2 yrs old. Spayed and in Sussex uk.

Her markings are almost as gorgeous as her cuddles. She enjoys her walks in the countryside, loud noises scare her so no young children or towns for her.
She does best with a big, kind male dog. She’s fine out walking with my girls too but not sure about living alongside another female.
We have horses next door so she used to seeing those and sheep too. This little Mastina is very precious, she will be your very best friend. She will entertain you too when she does her zoomies.
She needs a rural home with at least one lovely kind male dog to boost her confidence.
I so hope we find her home soon.
