Kiko has been waiting for a home since 01.08.2024.
He was found by our dear friend Paqui Muñoz Martin , where he is currently being taken care of, until being rehomed.
He lived all alone in a greenhouse and shared with a colony of cats their food, which Paqui has been looking after for a long time.
Since Kiko kept coming to eat in the evening, Paqui looked for him at the greenhouse and could recognize his poor condition in daylight.
However, the little darling was on a private property at that time, so our dear animal protector asked the owners about Kiko.
There she was explained that he was being fed, but does not belong to anyone and she could take him with her.
Kiko was willingly put down the leash and was introduced to a vet.
This poor lad had many open wounds, scrapes and scales all over his body, as well as long ingrown claws that caused him pain when walking.
Kiko tested positive for leishmaniasis and was immediately given medication and shampoo to help ease his pain and contain the leishmaniosis push.
At the moment, the Mediterranean disease is inactive and Kiko is still receiving medicines to keep his blood pressure stable and suppress leishmaniosis.
Currently the little dogman is taking the medications: “Benakor”, “Telmisartan” and “Allopurinol”.
In addition, his urine is currently examined every month to check the protein content.
His vet told us that this treatment is not needed at this range for life, once all levels are back to normal, a checkup every 6 months is sufficient.
Kiko is a real fighter as he has proven in the past few months, and is just a truly lovable boy.
He is very happy with people and likes to be stroked over his body when you approach him with empathy.
Being stroked on the head still worries him a bit.
Dogs with leish can live long healthy lives, and this boy definitely needs a chance
